Meet Dr. Katy Kramer, our new dentist

Dentistry for Children is excited to announce that Dr. Katy Kramer will be joining our team in January 2023! What makes this announcement even more exciting, is Dr. Katy is Dr. Mitch’s sister. “I am eager to introduce our patients and their families to Dr. Katy. Her strength in clinical care, coupled with her enthusiasm to work with children make her a wonderful addition to the team,” said Dr. Mitch. “She has an endearing personality and genuinely cares for her patients as if they were family.”

Dr. Katy is looking forward to working specifically with the pediatric population. Katy says she is “excited to make a positive impact on her patients to help foster lifelong healthy habits.” She has treated many adults over the years that continue to have dental anxiety stemming from negative childhood experiences. “I want to help the younger generation start off on the right foot with their oral health care, providing positive experiences and building a trusting relationship,” she notes.

Both Dr. Katy and her brother, Dr. Mitch, have numerous dentists and educators in the family. Their late grandfather, Dr. William S. Kramer was a pediatric dentist and educator. He worked many years in the classroom educating the future generation of dentists and helped develop the pediatric dental residency program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Beyond their grandfather, they have several other family members practicing dentistry and many others who work in the field of education. Dr. Katy acknowledges being surrounded by several educators in her  family has shaped her approach to care. “I appreciate that working with the pediatric population allows me to lean into the importance of education to empower my patients to take pride in their oral health,” she says.

Dr. Katy received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center located in Lincoln, Nebraska. Upon graduation in 2012, she moved to Central Minnesota and began practicing dentistry. “I started my dental career in Central Minnesota and am looking forward to returning to this community to work with the wonderful patients and professionals in the area,” she says. “DFC has the best team to work alongside that not only provides the highest quality of care but also an exceptional experience for their patients.” In addition to her traditional training, Dr. Katy enjoys employing digital dentistry with the use of intraoral scanners and CADCAM technology. She holds additional training in laser procedures, Invisalign, and Botox.

When Dr. Katy is not practicing dentistry, you will likely find her volunteering in the community, spending time with her family and friends, cooking and baking, or outdoors with her Golden Retriever, Crew. Spending time outdoors and fresh air is a must for Dr. Katy. She is an active member of the Minneapolis Junior League, devoting her time and energy to serving the community in which she lives. We know our patients will soon find that same commitment and passion for the community in which she serves.

We have begun scheduling patients for Dr. Katy’s arrival in January. Call today to schedule your child’s next dental appointment with our newest doctor!
