Denise got her start with Dentistry for Children as an intern while attending Central Lakes College—we valued her open friendliness and willingness to pitch in wherever needed so much that we just couldn’t let her get away!
A member of our team since 2005, Denise is a registered and certified dental assistant, knowledgeable in conscious sedation and basic life support. In addition, she manages the inventory of clinical supplies at all four Dentistry for Children locations, ensuring we have everything needed at all times to provide the very best patient care.
From her first job as a high school student at Sue’s Drive In (Pierz, MN), to her current career in pediatric dentistry, children—and their grins—have always excited and motivated Denise.
“Back then, it was fun to see the kids smile when they got their ice cream cones,” she says. “But now, I get to help children learn about the importance of dental care and watch them grow up. I love to hear what they want to be and what they plan to do. Ashley [another DFC dental assistant] was once my patient, and now we work together!”
Denise, or “Niece” as she’s affectionately known by her family, grew up on a farm in rural Minnesota, where they raised Gold’n Plump chickens and grew a variety of grains. Her two sisters and twin brother were—and still remain—her very best friends in life.
“My siblings and I…we are each other’s rock,” says Denise. “My brother is in the Navy and I look forward to his visits home on leave so that I can spend time with him.”
She and husband Justin live in St. Augusta with their 2-year-old black lab, Kira, and enjoy hunting, fishing or just relaxing outdoors.
